Fixed Term Contract for 6 months
We are looking for a Regional Nutrition Advisor to support specified country programmes in East Africa to design and deliver high quality programming to reduce child hunger and malnutrition.

As Regional Nutrition Advisor you will provide timely and high quality reviews of proposals and other documentation that meets the needs of the country offices. You will also provide ongoing mentoring support to senior technical staff at country offices. In addition you will:
- Support Country Offices in effective resource planning and management, including identifying and addressing technical capacity gaps
- Participate in regional or global meetings as appropriate and represent SC work to relevant regional bodies and forums
- Work with country teams, Senior Nutrition Advisor’s and other SC staff as appropriate to prepare for these global meetings
- Make technical contributions and coordinate work with other technical advisers
- Initiate and participate in regular meetings with the contract manager to identify priorities, level of effort, discuss technical issues and prepare short list of agreed action points.
To be successful you will have an internationally recognised third level qualification in nutrition with relevant work experience in nutrition programme management in the context of international development. You will also have demonstrable knowledge for supporting indirect nutrition inventions with a commitment to develop knowledge in food security and livelihoods interventions. In addition you will have:
- Expertise or understanding of technical issues around policy and programming to support the integrated treatment of acute malnutrition within health systems
- Thorough understanding of approaches to protect, promote and support optimal infant and young child feeding
- Proven skills in advocacy and influencing and experience working with national ministries of health
- Successful track record in programme management and fundraising from international donors
- The ability to work successfully with minimal administrative support.
